ANZCCART

ANZCCART: the "Australia and New Zealand Council for the Care of Animals in Research and Training".

The organisation that could be fittingly described as the Australia and NZ Council for the Continuance of Animals in Research and Teaching. The NZ vivisectors’ elite, representing over a dozen foundations, associations, pharmaceutical companies, private research centres, Crown Research Institutes using animals, all universities, the Health Research Council, the Royal Society of NZ, the Agricultural Chemical and Animal Remedies Manufacturers Association and the RNZSPCA. This organisation claims to be "independent"!. ANZCCART has taken over as publisher of the booklet "Animal Research Saves Lives". They claim that the information in the NZ Anti-Vivisection Society's full rebuttal, Animal Research Takes Lives - Humans and Animals Both Suffer, is "not supported by the established medical literature". We are unsure why ANZCCART does not consider the British Medical Journal, The Lancet, Journal of the American Medical Association or the NZ Medical Journal to be "established medical literature".

Campaigns by the New Zealand Anti-Vivisection Society Inc, over several years have shown that ANZCCART is a pro-vivisection industry lobby group rather than an animal welfare organisation as it used to pretend to be. Our campaigns have been successful in as far as general recognition of ANZCCART's pro-vivisection stance. With this exposed we now continue our campaigns to educate the public on the dangers to human health from vivisection, with the aim of combating demand for vivisection, to result in abolition.
