What about Animal Milk?

Monsanto learned of problems with their genetically engineered milk hormone, rBST (approved by FDA in 1994). Cows treated with rBST developed mastitis and ulcers on their udders. This resulted in increased levels of bacteria and pus in milk. In one study, all of the laboratory animals developed cancers or leukemias after rBST treatment. (from Environmental Times, 1 March 1996). This shows once again the low esteem in which results from animal experiments are held when it is in the financial interests of the vivisectors to disregard them.

Fish

"If for reasons of ethics or health we give up meat.. shall we turn to fish? As the seas are a dumping ground for domestic and human waste and human sewage along with heavy industrial toxic pollution, diseases in both ocean and freshwater fish causes serious losses to the fishing industry... In the Pacific Islands increased populations on limited land assisted by habitat destruction and chemical applications, foul the waters, poison the fish, endanger health."

Those who oppose vivisection and strive for its abolition are not against scientific research, but against "animal" research. We consider that research and technology should focus on phasing out the farming of animals and replacing it with more efficient and sustainable production of alternative and superior foods in the form of organic/veganic cropping.
