The Company was founded by Maurice Blackmore, English by birth. A naturopath and chiropractor who built up one of Australia's first preventative health
care practices and founded the first Health Food Store in Australia, in Brisbane in 1938. Maurice Blackmore was ahead of his time in espousing the causes of conservation, organic farming, anti-pollution and drugless health care.
Since 1975 Marcus Blackmore, his son, has taken over and developed the business supplying all Health Food shops in Australia. In 1980 Blackmores became an 80 percent shareholder in this New Zealand company and we are pleased to
say that the product range has been well received by the public and greatly appreciated by the retailers, especially as these products are made in New Zealand by New Zealanders and are all microbiologically tested before release to the public.
