And from the centres...

Hamilton

Lindz'

Lindz Roberts with friend Jacquie at their Petition stand in Garden Place. Assisted by Dave White they distributed leaflets, filled many petition forms and created interest resulting in several new members and a writeup in the Hamilton press.

Auckland

Chris Kemp, Ross Gardiner and David Goodison screened Hidden Crimes at Penrose School on WDLA reporting "a very positive response and many Petition forms signed". They also placed library displays at Mt Wellington Public Library, held leafleting sessions at record shops and advertised the Petition over Auckland University Campus radio.

Palmerston North

Richard Stanton and colleague came to Wellington for the march. Richard had advertised the WDLA march and Petition over Massey University Radio. He is currently extremely active for NZAVS in the Palmerston North area.

Blenheim

Diana Blackmore (see cover photo and story below) spent a successful WDLA helping her donkey Frosty collect signatures in Blenheim. This generated a lot of interest. Bette Overell was interviewed over Radio Marlborough.

"A petition calling for an end to vivisection in New Zealand was launched throughout the country on Friday and Ms Diana Blackmore, helped by her donkey Frosty, collected names in Blenheim.

The petition is being circulated by the New Zealand Anti-Vivisection Society and is the first to call for a complete ban on the use of animals for laboratory experiments. Friday was also the annual World Day for Laboratory Animals.

Ms Blackmore and Frosty were in town collecting signatures from midday onwards. She said an American video "Hidden Crimes" was to be shown on Sunday afternoon. The video included film made by the Animal Liberation Front during a raid on a laboratory where animals were being used for experiments.
