| Vivisection in Australia | ||
|
Furtive ~ Futile ~ Fraudulent In 1984 NZAVS was urged to become affiliated with the (then) Australian Federation of Animal Societies, which consisted of 43 Australian groups representing 50,000 members. However this was impossible since our study of the proposed recommendations on animal experiments exposed a vivisectors' charter designed for the continuance of vivisection. Nonetheless several NZ groups joined the Federation which then became the Austrlian and New Zealand Federation of Animal Societies (Refer Mobilise! 12 and 13, pages 5 and 11 respectively.) Two recent letters from Australia substantiates this Society's decision. ...Obviously... all is not well with ANZFAS: 112 Prince Alfred Parade

Editor's Comment: By supporting non-abolition groups unsuspecting and sincere people unwittingly subscribe to the continuance of vivisection. NZAVS members are again urged to read Hans Ruesch's Bullet-in and Naked Empress... on infiltration of the movement. Those "office-bearers" hold a grave responsibility... The Australian Society for Humane Research has withdrawn membership of the Federation which is being criticised in various quarters for its pro-vivisection policies. Spurred on by $US120 million judgements against the manufacturers of anti-morning sickness drug Debendox... Six hundred Australian families are mobilising against Merrell Dow which released Debendox (known as Bendectin in USA) onto the world market in 1962. (Sheridan Lawyers in Great Britain are also handling hundreds of cases... including thirty New Zealand families currently going to court claiming birth defects due to Debendox.) |
