Man's Hypocrisy... (or what we do to animals behind the scenes!)

Whilst thousands cheered the 15 ft tall model of Australia's National Emblem, paraded around Q.E.2 Park, Brisbane, one of the cruelest bloodbaths in history is taking place on the Australian continent.

Every year millions of mothers, joeys in pouch and young at foot are clubbed to death, have their heads and limbs cut off with axes, are impaled and often skinned alive.

Stop the genocide of the kangaroo

The total "official" quota destined to be brutally murdered in 1982 is 3 and a half million - with the same number being killed unofficially by thugs for a fast buck - how long can the kangaroo withstand such an onslaught?

In what is called the "cash register mentality" man has grabbed the outback and overstocked with sheep and cattle. A tragic error which is converting the huge areas of inland Australia into desert.

An error which spells doom for the wildlife.

The introduced animals drink the water from the natural catchments - used by the kangaroo for centuries. Driven by extreme thirst on hot nights to the water area which is rightfully theirs they are butchered as they enter the trap.

This beautiful animal is being butchered to extinction - whilst we applaud plastic models!

The NZAVS is appalled at this cruelty. Do we want to see the kangaroo reduced to pathetic remnants in miserable zoos? Animal Prisons?
