Clara Grace Genge Uncannily, after NZAVS had dangerously depleted its funds to finance World Day for Laboratory Animals 1990 the Society received a bequest of twentyone thousand, sixtyseven dollars & fifty cents from the estate of Clara Grace Genge. Although unknown to NZAVS prior to her death, Miss Genge was a well-known Levin identity for many years where she was a practical supporter of causes related to animals welfare. That she gave such a large sum of money and her trust to NZAVS to enable it to continue its battles against the evils of vivisection demonstrates that Clara Grace Genge was a shrewd and farseeing woman. Her unexpected legacy, breathes life into our flagging finances and ensures NZAVS work will continue. |
