A blast from the past |

Many readers will remember Tom McCann, who campaigned vigorously for the abolitionist movement in the mid-1980s. Tom was admired for his simple honesty and his analytic skills. His understanding that current events are moving towards world dictatorship coloured his A/V writings. Tom claims he was rejected by the leaders of the new abolitionist movement because he asked them to consciously connect A/V activity with the need to address the drift towards dictatorship. Today, as the environmental crisis deepens and dictatorship looms, Tom has come out of "retirement" to offer a thought-provoking article, which NZAVS endorses, entitled "The Abolition of Vivisection - How it is Going to Happen" , for which he takes full responsibility. The following is directed mainly towards the international leadership of the new abolitionist movement. (Comments on the following article should be addressed to Tom McCann and not to NZAVS.) |

The abolition of vivisection - how it is going to happen? The news is spreading in anti-vivisection circles that we have all been taken for a ride by the infiltrators who have been 'leading' the mainstream anti-vivisection societies. We now know that vivisection was a scientific mistake from the start; it never gave us any benefits, only more disease and death. Vivisection should have been abolished decades ago. The infiltrators are to be blamed for its continuance. As time goes on and as the scientific errors multiply and intensify, informed people should be getting anxious. Vivisection is the cause not only of medical disasters but also of chemical pollution which now threatens to destroy us all. This is not just another reform movement; this is self-defence. We are fighting for our lives against false medicine and against chemical pollution rooted in false animal tests. For those who in the past preferred to leave everything to parliament - let it be said once more: parliament and government are just a fully infiltrated as are the old antivivisection societies; and apart from the actual paid infiltrators in Parliament, many other MPs have a finger in the pie, shares or directorships in vivisection-related industries; furthermore, all MPs are subjected to a barrage of propaganda from the chemical industries aimed at conditioning them to believe in the vivisectionist method. Given this kind of pressure, it is hardly surprising that all out efforts over the past ten years to persuade the politicians to face reality and abolish vivisection have met with a smoke-screen of evasions and diversions. |

So what is to be done? There is only one solution now - and it is perfectly legal: it is known as the... citizens arrest... Every evolved legal system recognises the concept of the citizens arrest. Black's law dictionary, fifth edition, page 222, states:...
The vivisectors are felons: if we want to be charitable let us say they are guilty of manslaughter; ie by their stupidity they are unintentionally killing people with their poisonous drugs and pollutants. Having exhausted all other avenues, we now propose a nationwide citizens arrest of vivisectors, including of course the confiscation of their murderous equipment. No obstacle will be placed in the path of those vivisectors who want to run away. The most important thing now is to stop the medical killings source by confiscating the laboratory tools. To this end, the laboratories will need to be occupied for a reasonable period by anti-vivisectionist volunteers, who will also care for the laboratory animals until they can be found proper homes or returned to the wild. Then afterwards, when we are safe from the vivisectionist threat, a red-faced parliament may meet to formalise our citizens arrest in a new law Which will abolish vivisection forever... |
