The ongoing diary of the fate of the 100,640 signature petition to abolish vivisection in NZ which, commencing circulation on 24 April 1987 was presented to Parliament on 24 April 1989:

1990

1 March		NZAVS to all Parliamentarians. Letter with copy of Mobilise! 26. Seeking politicians' opinions of NZAVS treatment at the hands of the Primary Production Committee. Received 42 replies. Most being mere acknowledgements expressing no commitment of opinion.
March / April		Between NZAVS and Minister of Agriculture, Mr J. Sutton. A series of long, drawn-out, unproductive correspondence.
18 April		Mr Wallbank (PPC) less than one week before NZAVS March and rally. "The PPC has 'reconsidered' and will accept ten Submissions and hear oral evidence from ten at a Committee Hearing of the Petition."
22 April		NZAVS to Mr Wallbank. The Society is prepared to choose ten Submissions from its total of 700 and select ten people to attend the Hearing. This, acceptable only if ALL 700 supporting Submissions to the petition are acknowledged and registered by the Committee.

At the time of going to print the PPC has not answered the society's letter.
