Submission against the permit to capture marine mammals for Napier's Marineland
18 May 1991

This Submission is written on behalf of the two thousand members of the NZ Anti-Vivisection Society who strongly oppose the capture of six common dolphins and one leopard seal for Napier's Marineland.

The permit is opposed on the following grounds:

  1. The right against our children being indoctrinated in the acceptability of imprisoning, abusing and torturing animals. Cruelties upon which the aquarium industry is based. Such actions being responsible for leading to the acceptability of violence against human beings.
  2. The right of human beings to be free from the psychological torture caused by their knowledge of the unnecessary exploitation of marine mammals which is degrading to many human beings.
  3. The right for the evolvement of human civilisation to be unobstructed by those who would continue barbaric and outdated forms of human entertainment in the pursuit of profit.

I request that you register this Submission in the name of the NZ Anti-Vivisection Society.
