The only area in which experimentation is scientific and ethical is the science of clinical investigation and its principle applies equally to all species. Until it is restored and reestablished as the true principle of healing it was prior to 'health' being taken over by the pharmaceutical companies, modern health systems the world over will remain bankrupt and in chaos.

Unlike the current self-perpetuating and self-serving profit-oriented system of manufacturing disease to inflict into animals and human beings, clinical experimentation is the study of spontaneous and existing sickness, of which there is no shortage, investigation and observation, with purification as the cornerstone should be carried out in casualty wards, hospital patients, institutions, geographical locations, living and working conditions, lineage, patients' medical histories, and of habits and lifestyles. For example:

Cancer of the urinary bladder is 13 times more frequent in the population of European origin than in the Maoris. Why is this? Can the answer be found by poisoning animals to death with toxic substances in 'tests' the poisoners themselves admit don't work? Or by inducing hideous and cruel cancers into their bodies, which reveal nothing but the depths to which profiteers are willing to stoop? Or by using human-beings in drug trials of dubious substances which, produced purely for commercial gain, are known to cause more damage than they do good? Of course not! The only miracle is that human-beings can be connived into believing such nonsense. Thorough and diligent study of the conditions, lineage, locations, habits, diet, lifestyle and the many other circumstances of those afflicted is the accurate approach, and this would be the death-knell of vivisection in all its forms should future research be based on its genuinely scientific foundation. Should the vast fortunes currently being wasted in an erroneous but profitable approach to health in a self-motivating industry carried out for the sake of its own existence and continuance, be channelled to clinical investigation most sickness could be not only correctly diagnosed, but prevented. And, when tragedy strikes and we fall sick, as we must sometimes in all our lives, our cures and remedies, treatments and therapies could take such unique and beneficial form that an extensive article could be devoted entirely to these procedures which could indeed make our world a utopia.

The principle of Scientific anti-vivisectionism was founded by the father of the new abolitionist movement, NZAVS Patron of 15 years, Hans Ruesch. It is now the policy of the combined leagues of medical professionals actively campaigning for an end to vivisection. It is extremely important that members understand its principle as this is the cornerstone of all NZAVS actions and policy. The following should clarify the term:

1. It is not possible to extrapolate information inter-species (between the species) that is from the mouse - to the rat - to the dog - to the man - etc. This is scientifically invalid. It is also unethical.
2. It is possible to extrapolate information intra-speciem (between the same species) that is from the mouse to the mouse - the dog to the dog - the man to the man. This is scientifically valid and ethical...
   
   But only in (b) below.
   
   1. Active experiments intra-speciem (between the same species) (on volunteers or otherwise) Causing the disease to study it is scientifically invalid because an introduced disease is not the same as a spontaneous one. It is also unethical.
   2. Clinical experiments intra-speciem (between the same species) (on volunteers or otherwise) Investigating spontaneous disease is scientifically valid because a spontaneous disease is not artificially induced. It is also ethical.
