In its second newsletter ANZCCART advises that the NZ Science Teachers' Association has joined the National Animal Ethics Advisory Council, and is now invited to join ANZCCART... within the framework of which, and in line with moves being taken in Australia, the Royal Society of NZ is preparing educational propaganda to
Obviously the Society is apprehensive about the groundswell of pupils' universal disenchantment and objection to classroom vivisection. Such apprehension is justified, as in the United Kingdom alone the Lancaster University biological science department has dropped vivisection from its courses... similarly Swansea and Newcastle universities and Queens University in Belfast. Certainly this is the time, before NZ students are blanket-bombed with educational propaganda, to press our advantage by promoting NZAVS Animal Research Takes Lives - Humans and Animals Both Suffer - to New Zealand colleges and universities. To this end, in NZAVS campaign to distribute ARTL, through sales, as widely as possible throughout New Zealand one city has had the greatest success. The example of the above members reassured us that our 1993 goal to gain orders from all colleges, polytechnics, universities, public libraries etc... in the country, is a reasonable and achievable objective. |
