At long long last! The founding of the British Anti-Vivisection Association is not before time. It is indeed an historic event. This long-overdue and ambitious venture consists of an amalgamation between:

NZAVS pledges its full support to the new organisation and congratulates the organisers to whom we send best wishes and the promise to assist them in every way possible. Meanwhile BAVA is hard at work on the preparation of the first of what will be a regular journal/newsletter and is planning some interesting campaigns to emphasise the fraud of vivisection to the British public. More on Health Food Stores EC Threat to Vitamins and Supplements The EC is proposing to control the sale of vitamins and other health supplements which are at present freely available. In some European countries excessively stringent regulation has led to the virtual monopoly in the supply of dietary supplements being given to pharmacists. Prices have risen dramatically and availability has been significantly reduced. The European Commission proposes to harmonize such regulations throughout Europe. This despite the lack of any reports of significant harm from nutrients and the self-evident benefit that can be obtained from them. This contrasts somewhat with other products such as tobacco, alcohol and potentially lethal drugs which are sold with few restrictions and even advertised. This is obviously no isolated case, but rather part of the ongoing behind-the-scenes manoeuvring of the ruthless and all-powerful chemical./medical/vivisection cartel. The ultimate aim of this cartel is to remove any competition from safe and inexpensive natural therapies. It appears that EC legislation is a useful weapon for the cartel, and as the recent EC Cosmetics Tests Ban fiasco (ARTL page 268 - http://www.health.org.nz/draize.html#footone) demonstrates, the cartel can easily stifle any attempt to use EC legislation to improve existing situations.
