Fur company stinks

On 27 July 1983 ALF activists let off 15 stink bombs at the Miss Nottingham Contest being held at Madison's nightclub. The contest was sponsored by the Edelson Fur Company. Many of the audience left because of the stink.

"Frustrated resignation was principal Mr John Baker's reaction today to the second attack on Brockenhurst College by the Animal Liberation Front.

'I put bigger locks on the doors after the last incident and that hasn't kept them out. There's not much I can do except to try and further strengthen our defences without spending too much public money', he said.

The mice were used in intelligence experiments and a few were put down and dissected in biology lessons.

Raiders who broke into the sixth-form college by forcing a window and cutting through wire mesh stole 99 mice and some cages in the latest attack.

The letters ALF were sprayed on the wall in red paint in the carbon copy attack of a similar one earlier this year."
