The invalidity of the LD50 alibi is borne out by the following report from Wallaceville Animal Research Laboratory, New Zealand:

From "Compound 1080 Properties and Use of Sodium Monofluoroacetate in New Zealand"
(Rammell and Fleming MAF Wellington 1978)

"The LD50 of 1080 for dogs is generally acceptable as 0.07 mg/kg. Individual dogs vary widely in their susceptibility as may be seen from typical results of a dosing trial on impounded dogs (table2) 132. The LD50 calculated from the results of this trial is 0.07mg/kg even though a dose of 0.07 mg/kg killed only 25 percent of the dogs...

This illustrates the wide variations that occur and the need for caution in using LD50 figures..."

The following extract from Veterinary Record November 21 1968 also poses some questions:

Virus Research Department
Tasman Vaccine Laboratory
Upper Hutt
New Zealand

"Cats were obtained from suppliers located principally in the Hamilton and Auckland areas of the North Island. All ages were represented in the 222 animals involved in this study. On arrival the cats were identified, bled by cardiac puncture and immediately forcefed with 1.5ml of a 20 percent suspension of virulent panleucopenia virus-infected kitten intestine. Those animals were observed several times daily and postmortem examination were made on those found dead or destroyed when in extremis."

"Following dosing with virulent virus the majority of deaths fell mainly within the subsequent six to 11 days. Cats dying after the 13th day post infection were excluded from the series. Throughout the six weeks' duration of the experiment no intercurrent respiratory disease was noticed among the test population."

Who were these "suppliers"? - What was the origin of the animals - Were they homeless strays? - There is no standardization as the cats were of "all ages"! - Cats get highly upset and would be distressed from the journey... they were thus "dosed" whilst in a stressful state - That the animals were "found dead" indicates that there is no around the clock observation... which would be essential if any kind of uniform assessment was the aim... should the whole question of "vivisection" be investigated in New Zealand?

What other crimes against helpless animals are taking place in our society?

Unreported   -   Unnoticed   -   Unseen   -   Carefully shielded from the public's eyes?

Many drugs which damage an animal's fetus don't damage the human fetus

"Sixteen percent of people in hospital are there directly due to the side effects of drugs"
- Dr R. Sharpe, Medical Adviser NAVS London.

The Head of the West German Gynecological Clinic reports that for 61% of all malformed children born alive and 88% of all still born children the intake of various drugs has to be held responsible.

"If a certain drug works on a million white mice - it isn't necessarily safe for humans"
- Dr R. Beaconsfield... world's leader in placenta research.

The experts insist that not until a drug is released on the market can side effects really be studied. Norway requires evidence of an increase in therapeutic effects before a new drug can be fully developed.
