The 450 pages (including index) describe what vivisection is, provides a section of chilling examples of vivisection and another section on the intellectuality and mutual compassion shown by animals. Ruesch then presents a brief look at the history of medicine and how its progress has been hampered by vivisection. This is backed up by quotes and references from doctors and medical journals. Cancer, vaccines, surgery and pharmaceuticals are all dealt with, and the harmful effects for humans from animal experiments are highlighted.

Hans Ruesch, NZAVS Patron and Bette Overell, NZAVS Founder. It is with sadness we inform that these two major forces in the scientific anti-vivisection movement both died within weeks of each other in late 2007.
